 TP steamrolls past SIM
Singapore Polytechnic, Wednesday, 7 January 2009 – When it comes to the Singapore Institute of Management (SIM) and Temasek Polytechnic (TP) touch rugby teams, all would agree that both were well-matched. However one error can cause one team to steamroll its opponent in terms of scores. TP spared no time and started with a brisk offense. TP's Siti Nurulhuda, clutching the ball to her side, dashed towards touchdown, then before being tagged by SIM, quickly threw the ball to her teammate who managed to touchdown. Undaunted, SIM unleashed their trump card, Annabel Woo, one of the fastest players on the field, who was also able to touchdown for her team. TP sped up on their attacks and their passing. Nurulhuda, dodging all her opponents, ran to touchdown and scored. After the first half finished, the score stood at 4-1, led by TP.

Bowen Chan, a spectator from SIM says, “The problem with the SIM team for this game is that we are not putting up a strong defence. The players are not communicating with each other enough. I think the attacking aspect is still alright, we should just play our own game.”

During the second half, SIM advanced in their attempts for touchdowns. Credit has to be given to Annabel Woo who single-handedly managed to break through TP's formidable defence structure to score. Just as SIM seemed to strengthen their defence with numerous good tags, a lack of concentration allowed TP's Isabel Kok to dash past all her opponents, straight to touchdown. She achieved this feat not just once but twice. TP ends the game victoriously, with the score 7-2.

Isabel Kok, player from TP says, “We played well today. We really gel up as a team and we showed good teamwork and communication.”

Marlina Md Kasbi, coach for TP remarks, “Today's game is the last one for the team. So I'm happy that they put everything into play. I think all the players played outstandingly today, it wasn't just about one person, but it was about the team. We finished off in a good way.”
