ABOUT THE TRAINERS
Sports Journalism (Session 1) by Gary Koh
Gary Koh is a freelance sports journalist with 6 years of experience. Driven by his passion and in his bid to kick-start a career in this area, he initially wrote for free with The New Paper. With a strong interest in football, he moved on to specialise in writing for soccer. He had rubbed shoulders with past and upcoming players of the national team. Meeting deadlines and coming up with interesting angles is a norm for him as he writes for S-league on a regular basis. With a trainer as experienced as Gary, you can expect a wealth of knowledge and tips on sport journalism!
Sports Journalism (Session 2) by Marc Lim
Marc has been a journalist with The Straits Times since 2000. His decision to make writing about sports his career came about when he realised he had no future as a wanna-be professional footballer. He graduated with a editorial journalism degree from The University Of Washington. Marc has covered numerous SEA Games, The Asian Games, 2006 Fifa World Cup and the 2008 Beijing Olympics. He has interviewed some of the world's biggest stars, from swimmer Michael Phelps to David Beckham. His hope is to be able to write about a Singaporean winning an Olympic medal before he hangs up his pen and notebook.
Sports Photography (Session 1) by Aundry Gan
Aundry Gan is currently the Sports Photographer Consultant for the Singapore Youth Olympic Games Organising Committee (SYOGOC) and Sports Ambassador for Olympus. He is also into his 11th season with Football Association of Singapore (FAS) as the Official Photographer. Aundry has vast experience in sports photography as he had taken photos at major events such as SEA games and Olympics previously. Aundry also experienced life as a news photographer for 8 years while working with The New Paper from 1987 - 1994 . A photographer with such impressive portfolio, you can trust Aundry to kick-start your career in sports photography!
Sports Photography (Session 2) by Tay Ling
A self-taught photographer, Tay Ling picked up photography only in 2002. As an active person since young, Tay Ling had always been very interested in all sports. It was very natural that his love for the game translated into his specialisation in sports photography. Athletics, basketball, football, golf, handball, paintball, swimming, you name it and he has shot it. His deep passion for sports and understanding of most games allows him to excel in his work. He had been involved as the Official Photographer for Singapore Paintball Novice Series 2008 & 2009, Institute-Varsity-Polytechnic Games 2008/2009 and Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon 2008 & 2009, just to name a few. He also travelled to Korat, Thailand as the Official Photographer for the 4th Asean Paralympic Games in 2008. His aspiration is to be one of the photographers at World Cup before he stops squeezing his shutter.
Sports Marketing by Adrian Quek
Having successfully branded SAFRA Tampines Club and organised Singapore's First Quadrathlon, Adrian Quek is the man to listen to for the sports marketing talk! Adrian has vast experience in sports marketing from his previous jobs at Geylang United Football Club as well as Laguna National Golf & Country Club. He matched his practical experience with theoretical know-how in his stint as Programme Chairman in Republic Polytechnic’s School of Sports, Health and Leisure. Sports Event Management (Session 1) by Jane Koh
Jane Koh is the current president of the Paintball Association (Singapore). With hardwork and determination, she overcame numerous licenses issues to organise Singapore’s first competitive paintball competition, Singapore Paintball Novice Series (SPNS). Jane currently provides consultation services in the paintball field specialising in team-building activities through sports and had previously conducted numerous courses for youths on paintball. A true sports activist, come and learn from Jane on how to effectively manage sport events!
Sports Event Management (Session 2) by Diana Seng
Having worked in the sporting industry for the past 4 years, Diana has spearheaded and developed initiatives and events targeting at Children and Youth such as Sports Seminar for Parents, Singapore Sports Conference and Sports Education Programme. She is currently working in the Singapore Youth Olympic Games Organising Committee as the Deputy Head for Youth Outreach in the Culture and Education Division. Diana, most recently, worked with youths for the recent CAN! (Create Action Now) event in January 2009 that comprise of a 2010m CAN! Run with YOG sports tryouts featuring Handball, Fencing, Wrestling and Equestrian. Come and learn from Diana as she shares her experience on sports events management.
